Two Virginia Bills Would Aid Military Students

January 25, 2012 | Terry Howell

According to the Virginia Pilot, Virginia’s active-duty military students may soon find it easier to earn college credit for their military service and priority registration status for classes thanks to two bills which are headed to a general assembly vote.

The two bills are Virginia House Bills 548 and 195.  HB 548 will require public colleges and universities to institute policies providing certain administrative benefits to active-duty military, such as priority in enrolling for classes.  While HB 195, will require those schools also to draft policies that will support granting college credit for military service.
